The Gem of the West Museum is housed in a beautiful 1939 building which served the community as the Mennonite Brethren Church until 1971. The museum includes over 15 distinct exhibit rooms, an art gallery, and a working blacksmith shop.
The museum is dedicated to preserving and showcasing the history of the town of Coaldale and surrounding area. Exhibit themes include cultural displays, a First Nations exhibit, a one-room school house, butcher shop, CPR railway station, grocery store, and travelling exhibits. A typical visit takes approximately 1.5 hours.
The facility is available to rent for private functions including weddings, birthday parties, concerts, meetings, etc.
