The Canadian Badlands Rating System Explained

Our Accommodations rating system is based on a number of factors. Each property is rated in terms of their physical space and environment, setting and atmosphere, technological components, operations and processes. Most importantly however, each property is most heavily weighted on the experience they offer the guests. A unique positive experience and great service and hospitality are key. Each property is subject to a mystery shop to help gain insight into these things and allow each property to improve on any weaknesses.

Scores in each category are combined to give the property a rating out of five. These ratings are defined as follows:

Excellent: Scores extremely high in all ratings criteria. This property offers amazing and unique experiences to visitors. A highly recommended accommodation.

Very Good: Scores high in all ratings criteria. Superior in so many ways that its few drawbacks are not important. This property offers a great experience to visitors.

Good: Scores well in all ratings criteria. Strengths definitely outweigh weaknesses but there are faults visitors will notice. Still a good choice for Canadian Badlands experience.

Average: Scores decently in most ratings criteria. Likely a standard accommodation experience. Not much to set it apart from others.

Fair: Scores average in most criteria. A simple property without many extras. More weaknesses than strengths dampen the experience.

Poor: Scores average to low in most ratings criteria. No unique positive experiences will be found here.

Very Poor: Scores low in all ratings criteria. Minimal services available.

Terrible: Scores poorly in most ratings criteria. Will not satisfy the needs of most visitors.

Abysmal: Scores poorly in all ratings criteria. Offers a bed but not much else. Better options are available.


Our home was built as a B&B in 1994. Our living quarters are upstairs leaving the entire main floor for our guests. We offer 3 comfortable modern rooms and pioneer hospitality. A hot and hearty breakfast awaits you when you rise from your quiet country sleep. You will find us centrally located between Calgary and Drumheller and an easy day driving distance from Banff and lake louise. Our 24 hour coded access allows our guests to come and go as they please. Our guests enjoy the sweeping prairie view sunsets through their west facing windows. We are wheelchair accessible and enjoy hosting entire families for weddings family reunions, etc.
