Atlas Coal Mine National Historic Site

Located 21 km southeast of Drumheller, the Atlas Coal Mine National Historic Site is considered Canada's most complete historic coal mine and boasts the last wooden tipple in the country. It tells amazing stories of the miners from around the world who came to seek their fortunes in the Drumheller Valley, which is located in the heart of the Canadian Badlands. Due to COVID-19, the 2020 Atlas Coal Mine National Historic Site season will open on June 12 with limited public hours (11:00 am-4:00 pm), Thursday – Monday until further notice. All visits must be pre-booked, including General Admission. The Tipple, Tunnel and Train Tours will not be offered this season.
