Welcome to the Corn Capital of Canada. Taber is centre of the most varied crop production in the province, and perhaps anywhere in Canada. For this reason, Taber is also known as the Market Garden of Alberta. When homesteaders arrived in 1899, Taber found its beginnings with coal mining, and it wasn’t until the development of irrigation and the production of sugar beets that the Taber became an agricultural service center.
